Norwegian Theatre Academy (NTA) at Østfold University College in Fredrikstad offers a research and study environment in performance, scenography and theatre in the expanded field. Students inquire into the intersections of art and society with internationally practicing guest artists and faculty. Values informing the education rely on listening, collaboration, staying with failure, re-imagining material relations, excavation and play.

Appointment to a permanent position requires documented teaching qualifications. If you lack such qualifications, the appointment can be made conditional for up to three years. The university college offers a special teacher training course for higher education with colleague supervision.
Applicants who do not speak Norwegian or another Scandinavian language are expected to acquire the necessary proficiency to lecture in Norwegian. Permanent staff is expected to acquire good command of oral and written Norwegian within a period of three years. This is to be documented by passing the Bergen test at level B2, or equivalent.
